Bored: L.A.

I've been on break from school and have less than a week left before I have to return to the halls of Art Center and live there for 14 hours a day.

As I have been on break, I had quite the time catching up on sleep, snowboarding, people, sleep... oh did I mention sleep?

I also spent my holidays catching up on partying and getting sick (hoorah...).

As I've been sick, I've also been alone for the most part as many of my friends are busy with work and/or their own lives.
I don't mind this at all as I'm a recluse most of the time anyway.

But sometimes, like today, when the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and all that other cliche crap, you kind of want to experience the world.

Mind you, I'm not talking about the typical kind of, call you friends up and walk around and do the usual kind of drabby stuff.
I'm more so talking about exploring what the city, has to offer and realize just how small we are in the world.

So what did I end up doing?

Well...

First, I googled of course-- I mean, who doesn't google everything right? Right.

I googled an array of phrases from "things to do in Los Angeles alone", "fun things in L.A" and "hairless chickens". Granted the last phrase didn't really fit into my original quest of finding things to do in L.A., but hairless chickens look so damn funny I couldn't help myself.

So what did I find?

Well, I found really typical and stupid things to do and in no particular order here they are:

  1. Shave off all your body hair (what the...)
  2. Go shopping with only $5
  3. Try to invent a new way to play solitaire (...)
  4. Take a really long bath (baths are disgusting!)
  5. Sleep (...)
  6. Make a fake Facebook account (seriously?)
  7. Get all dressed up to do something really normal, like grocery shopping (no.)
  8. Griffith Observatory (not dumb but already done.)
  9. Walk down Hollywood (I live in L.A. I'm not a tourist.)
  10. Go to clubbing (it's 3pm..)
Now some of these things are normal and the majority are stupid.

I mean, is there really nothing to do alone?? Come on!

I may have to come up with my own list of fun things to do that aren't this typical or stupid...

What did I end up doing anyway?
Well, I took a bit of 'me' time and went for a long walk around my neighborhood.  After about an hour of walking I came home and decided to blog.
I have to say though, that walking and spending time outside, alone and having some quiet time for yourself is such a great experience.
But I definitely need to take advantage of this city and when I do, my list and my experiences will be posted!

Black Talon Tattoo Review.

So I recently got a tattoo and I am totally in love with it!

My friend took me to his tattoo guy in Arcadia, CA to Black Talon Tattoo.
I met with his guy Jay Miyagi-- and can I just say this man works wonders?

He was not only the nicest person ever, but his talent and skill are impeccable.

Jay worked with me in a rather large cover up of a crane that ended up looking more like a chicken than a crane on my back.
The one thing I really, really, reeeaaaallllyy, liked about Jay was the fact he was willing to listen to what I wanted and work with me.

I had been looking around for other artists and a lot of them said they'd be able to cover up my back but would immediately jump into what their vision was and what they wanted to put.

Jay wasn't like that.

He listened to what I wanted and then infused his vision with that-- and his vision was amazing.

He ended up covering my chicken with the Buddha Kwan Seum Bosal, which is a prayer and name of a Buddha I already have on my back in Korean characters.

The Buddha is on fresh skin on the upper left of my back and the body is covering up the chicken/crane.

I have to say that Jay is one of the most talented people I've ever met!
He is also very down to earth and that's what makes being around him also very comfortable.

If anyone is looking for an amazing artist, I definitely recommend Jay Miyagi of Black Talon Tattoo.

Now in case you're wondering why I'm writing a review for this place and not yelping about it is this:

I do Yelp and review places all the time, but I've realized I want to create more of a personal blog of all the places I've been.
Of course this blog will be a mixture of both blogging about places and my life experiences and the like and not merely just one or the other.

Anyway, why am I clarifying this? I'm not sure, it just makes me feel better to have things in order and in writing rather than noted in my head

Until next time,

Adieu!

Introductions.

Hello, Hello.

I am the Rambling Urbanist, here to share with the world my thoughts, ideas, and nonsense. Along with my absurdity, I hope to share my visual interests of the world around me.

An Angelino by definition, I hold little, to no admiration for the City of Angels.

With this blog and my record of daily encounters with this city, I can only hope that I can grow to appreciate the urine soaked streets of L.A.

I intend to write about my experiences I have with this city and hopefully grow an appreciate for it.

An aspiring Photographer, Student, and Realist.
I don't intend to sugar coat my thoughts, nor should I, or anyone have to.
I believe in self expression, and the freedom of whatever-else but I don't agree with forcing any of it down any one's throat.

A recluse at times, I find that I rarely crave human interaction with those I find insignificant.
I do not wish to come off arrogant by any means, it's just that I find most people in society have nothing relevant to offer.

But I digress.

So, here is the first post of the Rambling Urbanist, and hopefully there will be more to come.
I must confess I've created numerous blogs, and all have died and fallen into the abyss of the internet.

I can continue on and discuss how I wish this blog will be different, and blah blah blah, but I wont.
Instead I will bring this blog to a close.

Until we meet again--

Adieu.
